The Creeper Trail Park1 Expansion
One of the most exciting developments is the expansion of the Lansing Creeper Trail Park. Thanks to a recent $312,000 grant from the Great Trails State Program, the Blue Ridge Conservancy is working to acquire 57 additional acres along Big Horse Creek. This project will:
- Extend the trail upstream for approximately one mile.
- Preserve the historic Virginia Creeper Railroad bed.
- Provide more public access for fishing, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of Ashe County.
Downtown Revitalization & Resilience
Following the challenges of Hurricane Helene, the spirit of Lansing has never been stronger. Local groups like Greater Lansing Area Development (GLAD) and Lansing’s Bridge to Recovery have been instrumental in restoring our infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Wins: Over 100 projects, including repairs to private bridges and roads, have been completed to ensure residents and visitors have safe access to our beautiful town.
